Life with your child in the hospital

Pacing is at 70, maybe it’s going to work

February 7, Galina/Halia is doing well and pacemaker is pacing only at 70.  She’s eating and playing and that’s a good sign as they lower it more.  We got Galina/Halia a new book and a Lamaze dragon.  She’s thrilled with the wings flapping, but not strong enough to pull cord yet.  So glad she’s playing and happy. The cardiac care unit staff are amazing. We’re not supposed to be here this long, but because of Galina/Halia’s extended stay we become part of their work family. We know the language for Galina as doctors and nurses handle her. We change her diapers, bathe her, and help in every other possible way. We appreciate the inclusion and love being with Galina. My day is empty without her. I still work on the road to and from Miami and often some in Miami. The only thing that’s dropped is my private lessons as I don’t call to fill my book. I have to do this, because my assistant isn’t experienced yet or polished to handle country club situations. I will say I can’t believe I get crap from my interim GM and former supervisor about my slightly irregular hours. I work more than 70 hours every week and clock in for 45 hours. It’s been hard see Galina awake as she’s tired from the day’s schedule with therapy, doctors, nurses and tests by the time I drive down to see her.
