Life with your child in the hospital

Home again

Mid-August and so wonderful to have our angel home.  She’s a little thing.  She’s not eating much as she has a little stomach, thrush in the mouth from antibiotics and is teething early.  Can’t give her any teething Orajel as she’s too young.  Ordered some Dentinox from Europe.  I tried a little “old school” and gave her a “touch” of rum on the gums. Poor thing.  She’s also a little out of sorts we think, being away from “normal” hospital lights and activity and still possibly traumatized from all she’s been through.  Nastya is amazing with taking care of her with breastfeeding and pumping.  She jumps up to take care of her. It really is so wonderful holding your child and nurturing them.  I love holding her and especially lying back and her sleeping on my chest.  Daddy is warm and Halina is happy and “snug as a bug” on daddy.  I would stay in this position forever, as we doze off into daddy and daughter land.  I adored this snuggling with my boys.  It’s so hot that Nastya can only walk in the mornings with Halina.  She loves walking with her sweetie.  She walks over to the club to see Shatzi and we hit about 15-30 minutes a couple of times.  I have a fan on the court, and we keep her in the shade.  As soon as she’s stirring from being too hot, we stop and go home in the air conditioned car.  A couple members see us and are only allowed to peek only.  We are a little overprotective as she needs all her shots first before anyone gets close to her.  No chances whatsoever.  Off to the beach for a stroll to see the sunset.  Thankfully there is usually a breeze and it’s been a wonderful trip each of the couple times we went.  We are very careful about Halina looking into the sun.  She sits on our lap in the sand.  Her cute little feet are the size of my thumb.  She’s got the most beautiful blue eyes and her hair is turning red.  One of our members bought her a hat.  So nice of Meg, but a little big now.  I feel like I can finally visit the boys and have booked flights to see each one of them.

I am the proud father of three amazing sons, Bradley, Hunter and Chase, All 3 were boy scouts with 2 becoming eagle scouts, two played college tennis players and third could have, and they have college degrees in Chemistry, Physics, Math and Kinesiology. They are a PA at Northwestern University in Chicago, a scientific and engineering researcher at Southern Research and a soon to be PT/PA student. The addition of a beautiful baby daughter, Halina, has joined our family tree. I am currently the Tennis Director at the Club and Spa at Fiddler's Creek in Naples, Florida.
