Life with your child in the hospital

Back to Miami

August 28, the pediatric cardiologist and infectious disease doctor think there might be an infection and so we are off to Miami.  Halia has an infection right where the pacemaker is and hopefully it’s only on the surface and can be treated orally so we can go home.  Today we had bloodwork, ultrasound, CT scan, x-rays, plastic surgeon, echo cardiogram and Halia is going to be so tired.  She was not a happy camper with any of this.  She has an infection between the skin and the muscle near where the pacemaker is.  The CT scan hopefully will show if it is going any deeper than the muscle tissue.  They’re going to put a little suction in the area of the infection.  Her blood work that she has been on the last 6 weeks shows she is almost normal and that is good.  The boys all tell me to stay in Miami and be with Halya and Nastya and to come up for a visit another time.  I loved last September’s visits with each of the boys.  Both labs from Naples and Miami are negative.  Its inflammation caused by the previous infection and also opening the heart a few times during surgeries.  She’s on only 1 antibiotic and can have it orally at home.  If her wound is healing well enough then she could come home.

I am the proud father of three amazing sons, Bradley, Hunter and Chase, All 3 were boy scouts with 2 becoming eagle scouts, two played college tennis players and third could have, and they have college degrees in Chemistry, Physics, Math and Kinesiology. They are a PA at Northwestern University in Chicago, a scientific and engineering researcher at Southern Research and a soon to be PT/PA student. The addition of a beautiful baby daughter, Halina, has joined our family tree. I am currently the Tennis Director at the Club and Spa at Fiddler's Creek in Naples, Florida.
